This is where you come in. We’re looking for a scrappy, organized, and ambitious Recruiter to expand our candidate pipeline and execute our hiring plans. We set a very high bar for our hires, so you’ll focus on sourcing top, hard-to-find talent and managing candidates throughout the process. You’ll work closely with Mariah, Brian, and Hsu Ken. You'll thrive in this role if you’re passionate about finding exceptional talent and building great teams.

This role is a 12-month contract. The application deadline is 30 September at 11:59pm.

What You’ll Do

Source and Attract Top Talent – We want to speak to the best of the best. You’ll spend a significant portion of your time (around 60%) sourcing, screening, and vetting candidates. This isn’t your typical recruiting role—we’re looking for startup-minded individuals who understand the value of building a VC firm. You’ll need to figure out where these talented people are today, convince them that supporting and building a startup ecosystem is even more rewarding than working at a startup, and help us maintain our high hiring standards. We’re all about working with A+ players.

Manage Our Systems and Support Hiring Managers – Get the entire team involved in recruiting. You’ll be the go-to person for our internal ATS (Ashby), ensuring that our interview process is both swift and efficient. You’ll also help elevate the recruiting and interviewing skills of the whole team because, at the end of the day, recruiting is a team effort.

Improve Processes – We’re growing fast, and so will our processes. You’ll have the freedom to collaborate with Mariah on refining and innovating our recruiting practices to ensure we’re always efficient and candidate-friendly.

Champion Our Culture – You’ll play a key role in ensuring that every new hire not only has the skills but also fits our company culture. Finding the right cultural fit for a small team like ours can be challenging, but that’s what makes this role so rewarding.

What You’ll Bring

Proven Experience – You have a track record of success as a Recruiter, ideally in a startup environment. While VC experience isn’t required, you should have hands-on experience with sourcing techniques (Boolean, X-ray, etc.) and be capable of independently managing the recruitment process.

People Person – Not just another JD buzzword—hear us out. We know it’s not realistic to be a social butterfly every day, but we’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys growing our candidate pool and fostering valuable networks. You love creating epic hiring experiences, even for the 95%+ of candidates who won’t make the cut.

Strong Communication Skills – Whether it’s verbal, written, or through presentations, your communication skills are top-notch. This is crucial, especially since you’ll often be the first point of contact for candidates interacting with Iterative.

Growth Mindset – You have a growth mindset, meaning you’re willing and able to learn whatever is needed to get the job done. We don’t always have all the answers, but you should be comfortable stretching your existing skills or learning completely new ones.

Familiarity with Tools – In addition to the usual suspects (Slack, Zoom, Notion, etc.), we use LinkedIn Recruiter and Ashby, so familiarity with these tools is a plus.

What to Expect

Fully Remote – You’ll be able to work remotely and (mostly) set your own schedule.

Flexibility – You’ll have a lot of flexibility in your role and will help define what our operations infrastructure looks like as we grow.

Startup Environment – We operate like an early-stage startup, so projects and priorities can shift quickly. You should be comfortable with a bit of chaos—this isn’t the kind of job where you show up and we tell you exactly what to do every day.

About Iterative

Iterative is an accelerator that invests exclusively in startups in Southeast Asia. Founded in March 2020 by Hsu Ken Ooi and Brian Ma, Iterative has raised $60M+ across 2 funds, invested in 65+ companies, 200+ founders and the total value of Iterative companies is now worth $1.2 billion.

Our investors include Cendana, K5 Global, Village Global, Goodwater Capital with participation from a large network of Silicon Valley founders and execs including Arash Ferdowsi (Dropbox), Achmad Zaky (Bukalapak), Andrew Chen (General partner a16z, Uber), Qasar Younis (Former COO YC, Applied Intuition), David Shim (Foursquare), Kum Hong Siew (Head of Airbnb Asia), Moses Lo (Founder, Xendit), and many more.

Iterative, as an organization, has 4 distinct functions and as a result, a team for each function.

Recruiting – Find startups for Iterative to invest in

Investments – Decide whether Iterative should invest in a startup

Iterative Founders – Help the founders Iterative has invested in

Support – Make Iterative a first class organization

Iterative is currently a team of 13 and growing quickly across each of these teams.

Vision

Increase the GDP of Southeast Asia through entrepreneurship.

Values

These are the Iterative values. They’re not for everyone but if they speak to you, you might be just what we’re looking for.

Iterate or Die – We take this literally. Ship early, get continuous feedback, and boldly experiment. If not the organization will die.

Empathy is Our Competitive Advantage – Our success depends on our ability to empathize with other people in the organization and the community.

Be Realistically Ambitious – The best strategy for making a big impact is to be realistic, have a plan and be ambitious.

Responsibility is a Privilege, Not a Right – Being part of Iterative means being given responsibility for a part of our business. Be a good steward of that responsibility by being accountable, diligent and open-minded.
