About the position

Amazon.com’s success is built on a foundation of customer obsession. In the Returns business at Amazon, we are looking for a results-oriented candidate who will build datasets, highlight insights, and create and maintain reporting for our Operations teams. The ideal candidate will have analytics experience and should be comfortable working across multiple projects/programs with the capability to influence external stakeholders. The candidate should be comfortable interfacing with technology systems and be able to analyze data and gather actionable conclusions. Operating in a rapidly changing environment will require the candidate to be adept at dealing with ambiguous, new, and challenging situations. The candidate will have advanced skills in using/building data pipelines/datasets, as well as building visualizations in various forums. The candidate must be capable of working with non-technical individuals, gathering input, and making independent decisions based on that input to ensure that Operations have the toolsets they need to be successful. The successful candidate will be able to effectively manage customer expectations and resolve conflicts that balance client and company needs. They will develop processes to effectively maintain and disseminate project information to stakeholders and be successful in a delivery-focused environment, determining the right processes to make the team successful. This opportunity requires excellent technical, problem-solving, and communication skills. The candidate is not just a policy maker/spokesperson but drives to get things done. They must possess superior analytical abilities and judgment, using quantitative and qualitative data to prioritize and influence, show creativity, experimentation, and innovation, and drive projects with urgency in this fast-paced environment. Additionally, the candidate will partner with key stakeholders to develop the vision and strategy for customer experience on our platforms, influencing product roadmaps based on this strategy along with their teams. They will support the scalable growth of the company by developing and enabling the success of the Operations leadership team, serve as a role model for Amazon Leadership Principles inside and outside the organization, and actively seek to implement and distribute best practices across the operation. The candidate will also develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as maintaining existing reporting, and partner with internal stakeholders across multiple teams, gathering requirements and delivering complete solutions.

Responsibilities

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field.

3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience.

Knowledge of SQL and data warehousing concepts.

Experience developing and presenting recommendations of new metrics for business performance understanding.

Advanced skills in Excel and data visualization tools such as Quicksight, Tableau, or similar BI tools (Quicksight preferred).

Nice-to-haves

Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.

Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines.
